What we welcome

Pitch ideas about place, culture, history, journeys or the craft of travel storytelling. Strong proposals have a specific focus, offer context rather than a list of attractions, and can remain useful beyond a single news cycle. We welcome thoughtful explanatory features and grounded personal perspectives that make their limits clear.

A useful pitch

Tell us the proposed subject, the central question and what the reader will understand by the end. Include a short account of your approach and the kinds of sources or experience the piece would draw on. We do not need a finished article at the pitch stage.

Before sending

Work should be original, carefully checked and respectful of the people and places it describes. Avoid broad claims about a whole culture based on a single encounter. Proposals are sent through the Contact page; choose the editorial question option and include your pitch in the message.
